Walk Until The Day Becomes Interesting
Breathwalks & The Forgotten Art of Being Lost, Bored & Lonely

Most of us organise our days so we’re never really alone, lost or bored: headphones on, maps open, messages always a tap away, scrolling while waiting for food or sitting in the U-Bahn. But what if those “uncomfortable” states were actually gateways to presence, serendipity and everyday magic?
In this lecture-performance, freediver, entrepreneur and adventurer Fabian Dittrich invites us to slow down enough for the city — and its people — to start speaking back. We begin with a short group breathing exercise, accompanied by stories from Fabian's deep freedives, to experience firsthand how breath can shift attention and nervous system state in just a few minutes.
From there, Fabian weaves personal anecdotes from 15+ years of travelling, running a nomadic company from a Land Rover, and teaching freediving: encounters that only happened because plans fell apart, cars broke down, or long stretches of “walking until the day becomes interesting” were allowed to unfold. Again and again, the next step did not emerge from overthinking — but from moments of openness, presence, and the courage to follow one's intution... or: the white rabbit
Drawing on his Urban Breathwalks practice, he shows how simple constraints — walking without a phone, following your breath instead of a map, paying attention to tiny details — can open up a different relationship with the city, with other people, and with yourself.
What we’ll explore
How breath changes your world in minutes - A short group breath exercise with freediving footage to feel, not just hear, how breathing patterns shift attention and nervous system state.
The value of being lost, bored and lonely - Why these states used to be a normal part of human life, and what we lose when modern life trains us to avoid them at all costs.
Serendipity as a skill, not an accident - Stories from years on the road about meaningful encounters that only happened when plans dissolved – and what that suggests for how we design our days.
Urban Breathwalks in practice - How to use breath + walking as a simple, repeatable way to re-enter presence, openness and curiosity in the middle of the city.
Everyday invitations to magic - Concrete practices to make everyday life a little weirder and more alive – without quitting your job or moving to a beach.
Expect something between a talk, a guided practice and a travel story night: light on theory, rich in experience, and designed to make your next random walk home feel different.

Freediver, Adventurer & Entrepreneur
Fabian Dittrich is a German freediving record-holder, entrepreneur and adventurer who loves experimenting with how we work, travel and pay attention. He founded the nomadic startup Helpando.it and ran it from a Land Rover while driving across South America, documenting alternative ways of living and working in the project “Startup Diaries.” A professional freediving athlete, he teaches at his retreat centre SeaSpace in Montenegro and in 2024 became the deepest German freediver with a 100-metre dive on a single breath. His current work explores breath, urban Breathwalks and designed moments of “getting lost” as tools to reconnect with curiosity and a sense of wonder in everyday life.
