Description

Many people don’t struggle with German because of vocabulary or pronunciation.

They struggle because they never stop thinking in their native language.

In this talk and live session, conversation trainer and musician Maggie Jabczynski explores a simple but rarely addressed problem in language learning: as long as your native way of structuring information in a sentence rules, speaking German will feel like a struggle — sentence after sentence.

Learning German doesn’t just mean adding new rules. It means unlearning old ones.

Especially one fundamental rule about how we learn.

What if we tackled German grammar before even using German words — using an effective, little-known, but scientifically grounded approach?

Drawing on bilingual learning research, auditory processing, and her experience with hundreds of German-learning students, Maggie shows how sound, rhythm, and mirrored bilingual input can help learners loosen their grip on English grammar and develop a more native-like sense of German structure.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • How to use correct German grammar while still speaking your native language

  • Why native German speakers switch to English — even when your pronunciation is good

  • What cognitive process is actually involved in mastering German grammar, and how to break it down

  • How binaural music can support the acquisition of a new way of structuring information

The session includes short live song demonstrations and guided listening moments.

Expect an evening that is precise, embodied, and surprisingly relieving.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of why German has felt stuck — and what actually helps it move.
