Germany’s new cannabis laws have opened the door to “Anbauvereine” – cannabis growing clubs – but what does that actually look like in practice? In this evening session, Ramon from Grüner Bär e.V. takes us inside the reality of building and running a cannabis club under KCanG and MedCanG.

Since April 2024, policy headlines have promised a “new era” of regulated cannabis. On the ground, though, clubs are navigating complex timelines, bureaucracy, and a big gap between political messaging and day-to-day work. For potential members and organisers, it can be hard to see what’s really allowed, what’s risky, and where the opportunities lie.

This session dives into the legal, organisational, and cultural side of cannabis clubs in Germany – from the dry details of implementation to the lived experience of building a community around responsible use.

 With a background in management, culture, and the music industry, and as a long-time Berliner, I’ve been involved in numerous projects and events across the city. As president of the first cannabis club to secure an Abgabestelle (club room) within the S-Bahn ring, I’ve been at the forefront of Berlin’s emerging cannabis-club scene.
